Record Homes Lost In East Hartford in 3rd Quarter 2017

While foreclosures in East Hartford increased about 10% in the 3rd quarter of 2017, homes lost to foreclosure set record numbers in the 2nd quarter of 2017 and again the 3rd quarter of 2017. Foreclosures by sale were up 116% from the 3rd quarter of 2016 and 225% from the same period five years ago.

Bristol continued with high foreclosure rates in the 2nd quarter of 2017 with 89 new foreclosures in the 90 day period, staying steady from last year’s rate of 94 new foreclosures in the same period for 2016.

Mediation efforts continue to fail Bristol homeowners by encouraging self-representation by borrowers not qualified to save their own homes. Homeowners not applying for mediation have also increased throughout Connecticut.

Bridgeport Foreclosure actions begun in the 2nd quarter of 2017 decreased significantly from 381 in 2016 to 237 in the second quarter of 2017, down 37%. Yet despite this better trend, homes continued to be lost in the foreclosure process at a pace consistent with 2016 rates.
